Cameron, I think my Hoya kerrii variegata is also in some orchid bark mix. I have not repotted this plant since I got it, just added an outside clay pot to help support the plant and added some leftover clay rocks on it.

My Hoya shooting star is going temperamental again, throwing off its blooms..but on closer look, it is doing that because it is ready again to grow new buds.

I guess kerrii can tolerate drier conditions? Mine was bone dry a couple of weeks ago but it didn't show any signs of wilting or shriveled leaves. It's funny how your Shooting Star neatly dropped its flowers. It seems like a blooming machine. Big Grin

Yes, that seems like it with kerrii, it can tolerate the drier conditions, as long as I give it some good watering and misting the vines. But you got better humidity levels than we do here. Seems to need 90F and higher though to push out the blooms.

H.shooting star is indeed so bloom friendly this year! And that particular peduncle has grown several batches already this year. Just got to keep it in standing water so it continues on. Big Grin

That's true. It's amazing what the difference in humidity can do. My DS-70 bloomed twice indoors last Winter. I didn't have it in good light either.

I almost missed my first hoya carnosa bloom! These are in a quiet part of my yard, where "the angels dance" Of course, in our heat, all parts of the yard is quiet for now. I was doing some extra hand watering when i caught this out if the corner of my eye. I'm so pleased! What a nice sight in the heat of summer!

I received my cuttings in the summer and seem to be doing well. Growth is slow, but are looking healthy.
I am trying figure out which is going to be the best way to display or grow these. Upright with supports or hanging? Not that at this point they need much.
What do you find to be the best or does it come down to what uses less space?
Going to see how these do and then get some more in our Spring.

I've found that some Hoyas just naturally have the upwards and outwards growing habit while others naturally want to hang down. If they hang down and you want them to have the upward growing appearance, they have to be tied to a trellis or some other support. We have a member in Hawaii wo had a variety of Hoya that naturally grew up the sides of a tree and once the vines reached the top, they turned and grew back down towards the ground.

Tara I haven't noticed much fragrance. It's a cross between H. mindorensis and H. davidcummingii neither of which are fragrant.

I am getting excited! My Hoya carnosa KQ is finally trying to making a bloom..just one though Hilarious! Hilarious! I will take whatever it can give me at this point. I guess I have been underwatering this plant during summer in the previous years, my bad..but this year I have stepped up watering especially during these triple digit days, and it is working! woohoo! More new leaves with better variegation and a bloom in the making! Happy me!

One more day of this incessant week long triple digit heat! Ugh! Such a struggle for all my outdoor plants..so hot and dry, humidity going down to single digits in the afternoons.. Rolling my eyes.

tarev, Congratulations on the soon to be carnosa bloom! H. carnosa always seems to bloom in summer here, probably because of the high heat and humidity. Y'all have hot and dry out west and we have hot and very humid here. Our heat indexes have been in the triple digits this summer and it's so miserably humid that if you're outside for five minutes you are soaking wet as though your standing out in the rain! I'm sooo ready for cooler temperatures but unfortunately cooler is still over a month away for us. I just checked our little weather station which shows the current outdoor temperature at 94ยบ F. The sensor is located on the screened porch, on the east side of the house with two ceiling fans on high!! I truly think I'd love living in Alaska during the summer. Green Grin!
