Susan, there is a lot on my want list. That cactus was given to me by a friend of a friend. Are you confused yet ? Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing
He gave me a lot of tropical plants, most of which I gave away because I still wanted to live here
Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Can only bring so many plants indoors. Contemplating giving one of my giant Brug away due to the size to a friend that has a attached garage. Taking this thing down to the basement is no joke. It's pushing thru the drop ceiling.

Love Brugmansias, that's a beauty. Even an attached garage won't help winter it over here. sigh ... I still stick one in the ground each year when I can find one local that is a decent size. The one local greenhouse that had large one's has stopped offering them. darn ....

I, too, love Brugmansias! I have them growing in 18 gallon plastic bins in my yard. I had planted them in the ground, but the root-knot nematodes killed every one of them. I purchased some seeds late last summer of some very interesting crosses and some of those seeds germinated and grew for me. I am waiting to see what the blooms look like. I love those huge trumpet shaped blooms! They grow fast here in Florida. And the fragrance about knocks me off my feet! They are one of my favorite plants!! I had yellow, pink n white, and pink in the ground last year. They were all NO id brugs from seed. Now I am back to growing them in containers and I know they will do well. (I had been growing them that way for several years, but thought on a whim to just plant them in the ground. What a mistake that was as I lost all of them and had to start over from seeds! (sigh))

Here is one of the seedlings that is growing fast! Hope to get a Y branch on it soon so that it will start blooming:

Note the daylily transplants along the front of that new garden bed! I have daylilies planted everywhere in my yard! Another of my favorite plants! (Dayliles are my #1 favorite plant, since I have over 300+ NO ID planted around my yard.)

Im feeling great Cindy, my sternum is still a bit ornery Blinking
Cant say Ive really been back to posting, but that yellow brug 'got me'.
I grow alot of mine in pots too. I have a double pink that is my favorite at the moment. Just like the osmanthus I have them anywhere the wind will blow that fragrance towards where I walk or sit.

As far as LA wins, I have none. I hoping to get down to Nicoles Harrys and others in May and see what I missed last year and whats new for this year. I lost a large part of my plants last summer. If just my avatar seedling blooms, Ill be happy.

Susan - Thank you! I garden mainly for butterflies and hummingbirds. The brugs, daylilies, and roses though .... I grow for ME!

Pam - Your icon daylily is stunning! I love the green throat and orange colors! I won a seed auction on LA that was Emerald Starburst x Cradle of Bethlehem which should produce an interesting green and ??? bloom! Probably won't bloom this year though, but next year for sure! I can't wait!

Falcon_g ....Has some good daylilies for people just starting out. My experience was a good one with them. First of all on LA they have this little paragraph mentioned.
Quote begin]
''Due to poor sales since the recession began and poor health, many of my plants have not been divided in 2 years. Although I advertise double fans, a lot of plants are at least 3 fans, often 4-5 fans. For all except the newest varieties you will get a larger plant than you are expecting''.[end quote]
http://www.daylily.com/cgi-bin...
So...I was hoping they would send extras but I didn't really know. Something in the back of my mind was saying....'Sure!'. LOL.
Here is a picture of the double fans I got from them and you can see that all are 4-6 fans not two, so there is proof that they mean what they say. I got a couple more from them for this year. JUDY FARQUHAR & VICTORIAN QUEEN. I am looking forward to my clumps. LOL. Green Grin!

He's had that statement in there for at least the last two years, and he always sends terrific plants with double to multiple fans. I've gotten some wonderful minis/smalls from him, and I highly recommend him as a seller.
