I don't even think the person I bought my small fan from is still selling and I definitely wouldn't buy from him again.

Joy, I'm more in line with your prices. I think the most I spent was $35 too. I sure do like a lot of the newer daylilies, but for myself, I can't justify the expense. However, I can understand why others do and why the prices on the newer ones are expensive. Hybridizing is a lot of hard work and long years.

I agree. I'm sure if I hybridized for more than just my own enjoyment I'd feel differently.

One can only hope they do BUT how many get burned in the process?

I have to admit that I have not left negative feedback on the LA mostly because of the warnings about libel and lawyers and not being able to alter what you put down. I have wanted to though! I usually just don't give any feedback to those people. I have contacted a few sellers directly about unsatisfactory shipments. Most have been most apologetic and sent replacements but there have been a couple &$*&^%^%** people that just end up on my blocked sellers list.

It kind of irritates me that they want their money now (most with in 7 to 10 days) but don't care after they are paid, or so it seems with some. Which I have no problem with paying as soon as auctions end (usually). I have issues with them not posting paid on their end. I have only paid a couple with M.O. if they don't take Pay Pal. I try to pay with Pay Pal (as I go) if possible. Easier to keep track of what I have already paid for. Then you go in the won section and I have sellers that have been paid over a month almost two and still they have not marked paid Grumbling . Little worried about a coupled of sellers I bought from. Confused Hope they ship my orders.....

Cat, not all sellers keep track of paid auctions through the auction. Some have a program on their computer or use excel for records. Sometimes the auction will have a glitch and will switch a paid back to unpaid, has happened to me several times. You can mark it paid yourself.

Yes, I found that out by accident one day just messing around. I know some sell a lot and are probably really busy! Just on the mailed payments, it would be a litter easier to know they had received it. Guess they would email or something if they didn't.

I believe in sending things that you would be happy getting yourself and there are plenty of growers / hybridizers who do that.

One of the BEST is Judy Davisson. http://www.picturetrail.com/da...
Every dollar I have spent with Judy has been a daylily dollar well spent .... value plus.

I agree. If we all did unto others as we would want done unto us, the world would be a better place and that includes in the daylily world.

Yes, Judy Davisson is one of the BEST. Since discovering Judy, I have ordered every year. I am always amazed at the large clumps that she sends of her new intros. We got an email today that our order is being shipped today!!! Hurray!

I got an email also about a shipment but why would someone ship on Friday?

Susan, maybe their post office is closed on Saturdays and they couldn't ship any other time. From some areas it takes more than 2 or 3 days to arrive. I shipped a box out on the 19th and it got delivered on the 23rd; the only one out of 30 but it does happen.
The postal service has gotten a lot better this year but if going by last years experience with them I could see why they shipped on a Friday.

When I ship on Saturdays I box my plants up on Fridays usually late evening but could be earlier. (But after PO is closed) because the post office here is only open for 2 hours on Saturday and there is no way I could get them boxed in time before they closed if I waited until Sat to do it. So when I do that and print out the labels it will send a notification about shipping on Friday. If you don't actually read it then you would think it was mailed on Friday.

I thought what she meant was that probably the plants won't move much over the weekend, post office closed on Saturday, sits there in a box for sure on Sunday, might get moving again on Monday, and arrived in the middle of the week. I don't know, do they actually still move packages on Saturday and Sunday even if they are closed to the public? So I was thinking ship during the early part of the week, and if it can't be shipped until Friday wait to dig and then ship Monday, just so the plants would be in better shape.

I have shipped plants on Saturday and they have got them Monday so their must be some kind of activity over the weekend for that to happen.

Yes, the USPS does generally keep things moving even on days when mail is not delivered. Most Priority Mail packages mailed on Friday during times of normal mail volume will arrive at their destination by Monday.

"Have no patience for bare ground"
Brian, in regards to negative feedback, most places try to discourage it. It is best to try and work with the seller first. Just remember to read their description of what they are selling. Some will tell you it's a small plant. It's up to you then to determine if you want to take the chance. In regards to a seller that doesn't want to budge on trying to diffuse the situation your only recourse is going to the auction "HONCHOS" to have them rectify the situation. If that don't work then a negative feedback is justified. WHO WANTS TO GO THRU ALL THAT !!!
I don't. Like you said block the seller and move on. There are many sellers out there that will bend over to make it right. I had a seller contacted me a couple years ago to let me know that they had "RUST" and that they would send me a refund. I told them to go ahead and send my plants anyway. The plants that I received didn't develop any "RUST" and I got a nice bonus plant to boot. That's being honest. Michele is also a perfect example.
In regards to the seller marking my bill as paid if they don't do it within a certain amount of time, like Michele said, I just do it myself. I put all my Paypal notification email in a save folder marked LA so that if there is any issue I can go thru there and sort it out. Despite all the negative, let's all have a great gardening season. Got my roses that I won on the raffle yesterday. They are looking great. Thanks Dave and Brushwood Gardens. Hurray! Hurray!

Yes, USPS does keep it moving but UPS and FedX does not move at all, I followed the tracking for some plants from Bluestone and they got scanned that morning, (Friday) but no more, which means he never took them out of the truck. Then the truck came back out Monday but I was at the bottom of the list so they were once again in a truck all day. I explained to them that not all states have saturday delivery from UPS. Most do not know, also I do not know which carrier they are using.
Most sellers on LA use USPS so it usually works out ok, by the way... my Friday shipper that I was worried about just arrived, I think it might have been a late email because this postage stamp said he mailed it Thursday. Yippee, I am off to the garage! Hurray!

@Hazelcrestmikeb..Brushwood Gardens is wonderful! Enjoy your roses. Lovey dubby

It was explained to me by a grower a few years ago that even though the Post Office is closed over the weekend, the mail still ships across the country all weekend. And they apparently send out everything that is mailed on Saturday mornings because I've gotten many packages on Mondays that were mailed on Saturdays -- including my wonderful order from Michele that I just got this last Monday. And in contrast, I've had many packages that were mailed on a Monday by Priority Mail and not delivered to me until Friday, or sometimes even Saturday, because Monday seems to be national plant mailing day and I think mail delivery often seems to slow down. So I've become a fan of Friday or Saturday mailing -- especially since it evens out my daylily deliveries when I get a bunch near the same time so that I can plant so many each day throughout the week.
