There is a post on the forum about identifying a reverse bitone. It was mentioned it came from a farm, and I think its a language difference, however, it started me thinking, are there any tissue culture farms any of you know about in the south?

I do like Maryotts, sometimes tho, they are almost to big, and I have trouble getting them going. Got two with buds right now. The do very well when I get them in the fall, it gets to hot to fast in the spring I think.

Ive never ordered anything but seeds from Codster on the LA, however, he said he would send me a plant I wanted this week, instead of waiting till the spring. The seeds looked good, so hopefully the plant will be the same.

Pam you are probably correct about your orders from Maryott's. Since they are relatively close to the central coast their plants don't start growing until later than their CA location would lead many to believe. I would imagine taking shipment in late June would be rough in Florida. I kind of have the opposite problem you do. I took a later delivery this year because I added some of his sale plants. That was all well and good but then I had scapes coming up really late on plants and had to cut them. It does, I would argue though, speak to the health and quality of the plants.

I don't know of any TC farms at all really. I do know that Jamie Gossard has been experimenting with it as a means to change the ploidy. He is going to give a seminar about it at the Region 2 winter meeting. I would really really like to go and need to figure out if I can swing it.

I can't speak to Codster as I have never purchased from him before.

The more I think about it, the more I think that something maybe they do overseas.

As for Codster, he had a plant I had to have, so I was checking the closed auctions to make sure I didnt over bid. Sure enough, one had been sold...buyer JWWC nodding

He is being kind enough to ship it now, even tho it was for spring delivery.

Hahaha I was watching it - he kept dropping the price then I bought it from De because he was the only one with it listed. Sure enough...pops back up! Should everything go according to plan, I want to cross it with IMAGE OF BEYOND and BONIBRAE SMOKE AND MIRRORS.

I received my order from Amazing Daylilies. Triple fans of two fairly expensive plants--Mrs. William Kemble Du Pont and Different Direction. No one had bid on them so I got each one for $40. The plants are wonderful! Both are attached--one is triple and one has 4 fans. I'm pleased!

Well, that does it for me, 18 single fans and you got the same plant as I did and yet yours were attached. Nobody has to worry about me bidding against them on, thats for sure. Sad

Glad to hear you got good plants tho, and in good time.

Pam, they may have sent you more fans because they were apologizing for sending single fans. You got a lot more than I did! Doesn't bother me because I plant in boxes and have limited space.

Enjoy your plants!

Does the seller Johnnyappleseed have some kind of connection to Woodhenge Gardens? Anyone know? Sometime back here on this thread he was identified as a fellow named John McIntosh. He sure offers a lot of both Reed and Murphy cultivars and a good number are as recent as 2014 intros. Several of theirs are sitting around on my wish list and I've been tinkering around with ordering for next spring. Always nice to get as many from a single supplier as possible.

Thanks

Donald, not sure about the connection, but your observations are right on. He also have many Mike Huben also. I bought a few from him a couple years ago.

I do not post very often on All Things Plants forums. But this has been a VERY informative thread. I appreciate everyone's input here. Being as it is the middle of winter here (Minnesota) my bidding has gotten out of hand of late. But, I do love the LA. I don't recall seeing anyone mentioning seller DAREDEVIL. She sends very nice plants and is a super nice lady. She is Linda Michaels.

DAREDEVIL currently has a lot posted on the LA. She also has a webpage called Daredevil Daylilies. Another where a number of hers were sitting on my list. When I saw one on the LA, I ended up ordering direct from her webpage since some on the list weren't on the LA. I had to prioritize, so there are still some on that list :). I have completed the order for this year and I can attest that she is exceedingly nice to work with. Wonderful sense of humor, too. I just hope the plants can make the adjustment from way up north to hot, dry, windy Texas when I get them this spring. Her digging weather is likely to be the early heat of summer here.

Odd for me this year. As I go through my wish list over and over and push things I want more to the top of the list, I'm finding a lot of them are plants being grown for market in the colder, northern gardens. I take chances, so I'm going to see if they can adapt. May not be any worse than coming from humid to very dry.

Well, my cut off date for buying is dec 31 After that the only thing I will be buying is any and everything I need to be ready for the arrivals in the spring. Today, after buying a couple more, Whistling I went back over the ones I had bought. Dont really know what I was thinking on a couple Confused . I mean I like them, but my rule is I have to love it, watch it a few weeks to get a good price point, and if I still love it...bid.

I got Gaudeamus today. That is my swan song. It worked out well, as they had not been listed before Christmas for a few weeks, I knew Michelle had them, but by the time I found hers, there was a bid, and last fan, so I found another one listed... the end Blinking

Hello, I am hoping everyone had a nice Christmas. We did, only one didn't make it home and she should be flying home in 2 wks.

Has anyone ordered or won plants from Cheryl Day in Ohio? Would love to have a review if you have.

Thank you

Teresa, I got some plants from her a couple years ago. Very nice lady with one of the biggest collection of Munson's around. I was very pleased with the plants I got from her. I highly recommend her.

I was looking for Inca Prince. My sister that passed away in Feb really liked that one. She was a hosta collector but commented on how vivid it was. I wanted to grow it for the good memories as much as anything. She was my garden

Teresa, you are welcome.
Pam, I am doing the opposite this year. I will be planting seeds starting in February in the basement. So far I have resisted all temptations ( Rolling on the floor laughing ) to buy plants. I do plan on buying some annuals and a few of the new perennials soon before they are sold out.
