Hey, I'll show you a picture of an Agave I have. Note the quarter next to it for scale.

Spitz,
Sure thing. It seems happy (yours)! I wish I could help you narrow down the species, but I haven't seen yours before... it's rather unique IMO.

Thanks, we have a great selection of succulents here, but almost never properly IDed.

I suppose having a great selection with incorrect IDs is better than a subpar collection with correct IDs lol.

The C&S vendor that most BBSs here order from have started labeling their plants correctly (before it seemed like most of them weren't IDed right), but it's the same plants every year just about. I found a couple unique ones this year, but I've been buying/looking at C&S for years... this would be the first year they've had anything real unique.

Your first Sans, to the left, is the same as my recent find. It is called Sansevieria patula. But I think the complete name goes like Sansevieria cylindrica var. patula.

This is my plant: I got it last April 2014

Spitz,
You have no idea how much you are asking. It is very hard to ID.
The last one which looks more like Haworthia longiana, or Agave striata nana, or could it be S.t.~ ' Green Fountian'? others;
S. Ballyis, S. Gracilis, S. Patens, S.Pinguicula, S. suffruticosa, and/or S. Francisii.

I know it is impossible to correctly name Sansevieria. Even the experts get into arguments. This is only best guess and nothing more. Also you can not use a name unless you are absolutely sure of it. This can not be determined here and with only a picture. I know this is not much help. I post this on my Sansevieria group. Should get some more responces.

The stores here get one or two new plants every week or so that never reappear, and for dirt cheap too. Most sellers don't know the rarity of their plants and will gladly give you an extra one for every 5 or 6 you buy. But the really rare plants sold by collectors are priced quite high, esp the variegated sans.

No worries Stush, thanks for the effort.
All those sans you posted in the first page grow like weeds here, and we get crazy typhoons. We got those in the middle of highways, in grassy loamy ground. In my street alone we have more than 5 trifasciata varieties in the front yards with no rain protection. These guys may be more tolerant of water than we give them credit for.

They are quite tolerant of a lot of water as long as they are in well-draining soil.

Spitz,
We have three BBSs that offer cacti and succulents (sometimes a couple others offer them as well) but they only receive "batches" twice a year. Most times the selection is the same at all the stores and even with the new "batches." Kinda stinks, but I have to be sure I go look right when they get their shipment in because very little has been picked over. I'm more likely to find something unique then.

I did find a 'Grassie Lassie' Aloe hybrid at a local farmer's market last month. I've been told they're pretty common out in Cali, but it was something I'd never seen before. I wasn't aware they carried C&S at this farmer's market lol.

In some ways maybe it's a good thing we don't have places here like you do. I'd be coming home with a car full every two months.

Actually I do come home with a trunk full quite often, most varieties I get at $0.70 with a freebie every 5-6 plants purchased.
Dutchlady, our soil is mostly loam, never gritty or sandy. That's why we have regular floods in the rainy season. Just a few hours ago we got 30 mins of torrential rain after a whole day of heat and humidity - and I'm talking lots of rain, wind and lightnng...and then nothing for the whole night. Google 'yolanda' if you want to get an idea how bad the typhoons get.

Spitz, our consistent year round high temps and humidity there in the Phils, allows the Sans to survive even if it is flooded for several weeks. That is your nice blessing in disguise there.

Over here, most of our temps will not allow that, especially come cold season weather.

This past month temps are around 40C with occasional heavy rains - I get sweaty while toweling off after a shower. Strange thing is most of the succulents sold here are grown in a province famous for low temps coz of elevation - around 15C - 20C, high up in the mountains.

Actually Spitz it is not surprising, that mountain temp is so good for the succulents. Not too hot and not too cold. Just nice and warm.
If it gets way too hot, they really slow down growth, unless they are cacti that enjoys as hot as it goes. They do not really enjoy humid temps. Warm and dry is to their liking, with the occasional rain, not the torrents of rain we have there in Manila.

When it rains, and then humidity too high, it will be prone to rotting. It will take longer to dry out, those roots do not enjoy being too wet for a long time. Like our humidity in Manila going from 85 to 100 %...not the ideal environment really. So make sure you have proper cover for your collection, when the typhoon season comes in full swing.

The exception will be the Sans, it is so carefree there..loves the weather immensely wet or dry.

Spitz, I really like how you have your succulents on the wall. I need to figure out something like that for small pots and small plants, something the cats and dogs can't get to. I have them sitting around on shelves and rocks but they get knocked over a lot if the cats see a gecko and go after it.
