yeah nice flower, its rare to have them flower in cultivation. at least with the regular type. i have personally only seen flowers in books, on the forum and maybe once at a tropical fish store with a huge overgrown, old snake plant.

i've tried these plants had one for a few years my staff hiddei( she no longer works with us) gave me one, it grew and thrived while my other plants died. the cold fall rain killed it. i tried it again but the pot was ill equipped to handle it, it kept falling out, spilling dirt everywhere in my room and over and i threw it out in digust.

recently i have gotten back into houseplants and am doing better i think maturity and obsession with all things green have allot to do with it.

I agree Sue.

Its hard to believe Sanseveria are in the Lily Family until you see the blooms. They are perfect tiny Lily flowers. These are in my front garden area. They are all coming into bloom this time of year here.

Time to have a photo update of my three musketeers for this Jan 2015:

Sans francisii to the left, I like how more compact and upright it goes, and to the right, Sans trifasciata, really got to admire its tenacity to survive, my true survivor after it nearly died in winter of 2011.

Sans patula - now I understand better how it grows..goes tall then the leaf seems to fall.

Not all of them, I got them as container plants already. The newest of them was San francisii which I got in 16Nov2014; the Sans patula in April 2014; both plants from my favorite Cactus Jungle nursery in Berkeley, CA.

Sans trifasciata, I think I got this one from Home Depot and it was a much bigger specimen then in 2011, but now much smaller, finally recovered from near death. Smiling This Sans trifasciata, some of them are grown from cuttings, because I really had to chop off the rotted/cold damaged parts.

Does anyone recognise this? I've had it several years now. It was originally a low growing rosette of juvenile foliage but now has 3 mature leaves. I'd love an ID for it.

No it's definitely not fischerii. I have a plant of that. It has much darker leaves.

This one's juvenile foliage.

And mature leaves which are very different.

Several types also have very different juvenile to mature foliage that's why I didn't respond sooner.

Might be one of the 3 different types of fischerii, the darker one with crossbanding is the most common. The tips are too pointy for a classic bat type.

My 'Black Gold' Sansevieria appears to be in the process of "giving birth" to the next generation.

The plastic pot it's in is beginning to warp from the pressure:

You can see a "bump" that has pushed out a small spot on the side of the pot:

Now, I'm just waiting to see the baby break the surface (or the pot one Hilarious! )!

Looks like the kind of pot you could cut, if you don't want to repot yet.

Tiff,
Hopefully the baby will be okay, as I wasn't planning on repotting or cutting the pot. Hilarious!

Here's another Sans I don't have an ID for. I got it years ago as a quite shriveled rosette.

Time for a repot afterall! The buldge on the side of my pot is bigger by the day. I removed some potting mix and can see the "head" of the rhizome. I'm more afraid at this point in not repotting than I am repotting in Winter. I don't believe this pot is one that will break from the pressure and I'm hoping the baby won't suffer from any damage before I can repot it this weekend.

I'll be sure to post pictures this weekend!

Thumbs up

The young leaves look like kirkii but the mature ones are definitely not. Stumped.
