Go, baby, go!

This morning, I noticed something new!
Thumb of 2015-03-09/purpleinopp/8a66ed

Yesterday I took more leaves off of the bottom of the Sedum stem, but didn't notice the Sans pup sticking up until moving this pot from its' daytime spot to where it lives at night.

Tiffany,
Don't see a Sans puping up. I see a lot of action in the pot but no sans.
And I love this site much better than our other site. I though more was going to switch.

Planto,
How nice, I don't think you will have the yellow margin in the new plant. Also it may be a Robusta type.

Stush,
It took me a minute to see her pup too. It's at the edge of the pot right next to the Sedum.

Time will tell on the margins (or lack thereof, it will be interesting if it sports!)

I haven't returned to the other site. I haven't posted there in awhile, but I wasn't excited to see yet again another new format and new "company." Meh.

Yes, I can clearly see it also. I must have fell asleep or something? There it is right out in the open. Must be my age.

Stush,
Lol, it took me a minute to find it too. I was looking closer to 'Mama' initially and not at the edge of the pot.

Took plants outside this weekend. Sans are awaiting being put in the ground for their summer vacation!

I can grow them outside too. But just the though of digging them back up after only a few months. Just when they start to have fun. Does make me wonder about moving down Florida.
Tiffany, I can't get over how wonderful your sans look. I only they could hold on to that silver new growth.

Remember my pearsonii flower stem? Well the flowers have gone now and it seems to be producing seed pods. Is it worth letting them develop or would you remove them and let the plant concentrate on vegetative growth?

There has been some talk about the stolen that produced a flower stem will die back now. I have not seen this in my plants but who knows. I would let the seed ripen and plant to see what you get. It will take many years to see any thing. Seed takes about 6 months to ripen and the pod turns orange. Seed needs to be cleaned and planted asap. Each pod can have as many as 3 seeds.

Mono- is easy, means one. If the below is correct, -carpic means, literally, bearing fruit.
http://www.merriam-webster.com...

The dying part seems to have been ascribed to the term monocarpic, but isn't part of the literal translation. The amalgam of what I've read suggests that each rosette can only make a bloom once, after which it won't make more blooms or grow new leaves, just pups., which fits with the literal translation. Does that fit with what you've observed, Stush?

Has anyone seen new growth or a repeat bloom from a same individual Sans rosette after it bloomed? I'll tie a ribbon on the next one that blooms & observe. Or maybe an earring... Someone with ground plants that don't get dug up would be in a good position to observe too.

I found this at Wal-Mart today. While it's difficult to photograph, there's some interesting vertical coloring on this one. Instead of the normal solid yellow, it appears more translucent and almost non-existent on the babies. Excuse the pollen. Hilarious!

Good Eye Planto. That's how we find our special plants at common places. Interesting to see what develops.

Sorry no, I want this one to overgrow, hence the overpotting. Amazingly tolerant for such variegation, have it in full morning sun and rain.

Here's a better picture of the Sans I bought yesterday.

I realize that my other pictures weren't the most clear and I took the time to clean it up lol.

I'll post more about this one in the future. I find its coloration intriguing. While the oldest leaves on 'Mama' look like your run of the mill Sans, her newest leaves have those almost translucent vertical stripes and the babies have a very thin yellow stripe on the edges and don't really look like 'Mama' at all. I realize the picture doesn't really do justice and it's difficult to describe. Hilarious! So, time will tell how it looks and I'll be sure to update you all on what it does. I want to say the babies are sports, but we'll see.
