Angela that's such a fun way to increase your plants. It's so fascinating to watch the progress of leaf cuttings. The popular S trifasciata Laurentii with the yellow outer band will revert to the plain green species when propagated this way.
Spitz I wonder if S longiflora is a possibility for my plant?

It is so hard to ID some of the Sansevieria. To me it doesn't look like any of the 'Bat' family. I think it is in the guineensis group which includes the Metallica and Masoniana and hyacinthoides and some more tripical types. Common for the juvenile leaves not to resemble the mature leaves in a lot of species.

The growth came so slow I kept thinking I planted the wrong side down Big Grin but alas it's just a slow grower. The original plant is so neglected and yet thriving which makes it truly the best house plant.

After seeing the variety here I definitely want to start a collection I have a lot of low light areas that need to be filled Whistling

Even the experts are always fighting over sans ID haha. I read somewhere that guineesis is no longer a valid name, any was told that patens does not exist in cultivation (what we have is a hybrid, ed eby).
Here are pups of banana and rorida, moved them to a sunnier spot.

Thanks Spitz, only I hear that guineesis being oldest, won out as name of species and there are some trifasciata X guineesis out there. I think in the end will be two. One flat leaf and the cylinder type leaf. One tropical and one desert. All those small bat or fat banana leaf ones being in-between.
So many crosses that only plant DNA will in the end tell the story. For me, I love the colorful ones and the ones that not going to get over a foot high. Makes wintering over easy.

And new hybrids are coming out of SE Asia all the time. Bought a new one today, S. cylindrica patula variegated offset.

Tarev,
:thankyou:

I struggled with them for a little while until I realized that they only tolerate low light and would be happier in sun. Moving one into the window sill this time around has produced much better results! Now I just hope it won't require another repot for a long time. Hilarious!

Planto,
Did you noticed the extra stripes forming. In time your plant may produce an 'Kristi' off shoot. or at least a 'Gold Flame'. A few years back when these guys hit the market, I did notice the some extra stripes in some and not in others. Well they did develop into Gold Flame. 'Kristi' I think is still in development and will see down the road. Even the one they said is 'Kristi' is not very well developed.
I hate this cold weather. Can't wait till spring so I can bring my collection out of my cellar.

Stush,
I haven't seen any extra stripes on the new leaves that have formed since purchase, but it will be interesting to see what the baby looks like. I'll keep an eye out for any sign of sporting and will be sure to post if it happens.

Tarev,
Some of the initial leaves on Sans babies look nothing like 'Mama.' I had a baby on a Sans once (I forget the species), whose "adult" leaves looked like spoons, but the babies came out like tubes and when opened, looked nothing like 'Mama.' Weird!

That is one of the most fascinating things about Sansevierias for me, the difference between the juvenile foliage and the adult form.
My S pearsonii is finally opening its flowers now.

I wish I could get a flower from my sans. My sister gets flowers twice a year. I am afraid I am a bad plant mamma. Hilarious!

Stush the way some sans change I wonder if all the ones out are really stable. The last one I purchased it has so many different shapes and color leaves it is like it does not know which one it wants to be,
